Tools for Advancing the Common Good

The United Way of Seneca County has served the community for more than 50 years, and is committed to advancing the common good by focusing on education, income and health. These are the building blocks for a good life: a quality education that leads to a stable job, enough income to support a family through retirement and good health. Our goal is to create long-lasting and measurable changes in Seneca County by addressing the underlying causes of problems.

But we can’t do it alone. This Resource area was designed as a resource for our partners to help us spread the word.

COMMUNITY PROFILE

The 2007 Seneca County Community Profile was compiled by the Center for Governmental Research located in Rochester, NY, and is meant to inform and guide community strategic planning. The purposes of the profile are to:

  • Provide an unbiased assessment of how the county is doing in desired outcomes
  • Educate and inform government, educational, nonprofit and business leaders
  • Act as a tool for planning and catalyst for setting priorities
  • Serve as a springboard for deeper inquiry about underlying causes
  • Motivate change

The study was initiated by the Seneca County Partners for Children, Youth and Families Collaboration for Community Change (SCPFCYF-CCC), which is a local network of people committed to providing a high quality of life for the children of our communities by coordinating existing services and improving their delivery for children and families throughout our county. The local partners include businesses, schools, United Way, community organizations, law enforcement, county agencies, faith partners, parents and youth as active participants.
